Welcome to the
Djinn Publications Page

Djinn is a project to produce a geometric API for solid modelling: a set of function definitions which can be used to access modellers independent of the datastructure or the representation of objects that they use. The project is run by Geometric Modelling Society, and Information Geometers is collaborating with them to publish the results. This page has been set up as a central index to available documents related to Djinn, including those from other publishers.

Introducing Djinn: A Geometric Interface for Solid Modelling

Originally published in softcover in May 1995, this is the original manifesto for the Djinn project. It is now reissued online at this site.

Djinn: A Geometric Interface for Solid Modelling

This is the final report of the Djinn project. It consists of three parts:

  1. A text explaining the overall rationale and then the design decisions, function by function.
  2. A formal specification.
  3. An example C language binding.
It will be published in hardback early in 2000.

Ten questions that arose in designing the Djinn API for solid modelling

A paper presented at the Shape Modeling '97 Conference in Aizu, Japan. Bibliographical details, the Abstract and a list of the 'ten questions' are available online at this site. The full text is published by the IEEE.
